Elizabeth

Our artisan, Elizabeth Gillett started off at Hartwick college where she studied painting and printmaking. She designed her first scarf, after losing her favorite – when she couldn’t find a replacement she decided to make one! It was only months later that the same velvet scarf was being sold in Barney’s New York and the Whitney Museum Gift Shop. Twenty years later, her range has expanded from scarves to wraps, and cover-ups.

Anyone familiar with  Elizabeth’s designs, shouldn’t be too surprised by this- as she handcrafts each scarf from in-the-moment inspirations. This artisan extracts inspiration from everything around her, from watching a Dutch sunset to playing in a garden with her daughter.

Elizabeth’s mastery lies in her ability to bring her inspirations to life using materials like chiffons, velvets and Chantily laces. Through painstaking techniques, such as crochet, macrame, tatting, needle lace, beadwork and smocking are used to create delicate, intricate design- making each accessory a masterpiece.

Elizabeth’s designs are updated seasonally, she works with unique materials and incorporates key trends to keep her designs fresh! Elizabeth creates each design in her Garment District loft in Manhattan which functions as a design house, workroom and showroom. Elizabeth lives with her husband Tom and daughter, Gemma in Tribeca.
