With roots in medieval Europe, Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, is a holiday celebrated in many countries all across the globe. This day of decadence and debauchery is held the night before Ash Wednesday to encourage indulgence before the Lenten season of fasting and sacrifice begins. Mardi Gras is the culmination of Carnevale: the period of reveling in carnal pleasures such as eating rich foods, dancing, and drinking that begins in January. Rich with color, cultural traditions, and festive parades, this celebration is truly an unforgettable experience.

One of the largest and most widely known Mardi Gras celebrations is in New Orleans, Louisiana: the home of your beloved artisan, Mark. Last year he even sent a traditional king cake all the way to our Connecticut office so we could join in on the festivities! Forever inspired by the rich culture and unbreakable resilience of his city, Mark creates breathtaking glassware that perfectly captures the magic, mystery, and wonder of New Orleans.
