Hearts Of Venetian Glass

05 Monday Jan 2015

Posted by unoallavolta in Our Favorites, Uno Alla Volta

≈ Comments Off on Hearts Of Venetian Glass

Venetian lamp worked hearts have been a customer favorite (and Terri’s too!) since the start of our company in 2003.

HEARTS

For this Valentine’s Day collection, our glass masters, Giulio and Lorena, create each of the beads, uno alla volta. Colorful molten glass is delicately formed over a small flame and shaped into dimensional hearts. Each pendant is then suspended from hundreds of tiny hand-strung seed beads.

Visit unoallavolta.com now to take advantage of our Valentine’s Day special: $89/ea. Now through February 14th, 2015.

New Year’s Resolutions

Dear friends,

It delights me to look back on my resolutions for the last several years and know that I have kept them.

I resolved that to live a life which is true to the best within me, I would stop trying to “balance” the many roles I play. Like you, I have but one life, a singular una vita! I may be a mother, a daughter, a wife, an entrepreneur, a boss, a colleague, a friend, but I must come to each of these roles authentically as me.

These no longer conflict. Not in the least. From time to time, I’ve been interviewed by others to hear how I’ve done it. It is actually pretty simple. It all comes down to one thing.

“To achieve your vision, surround yourself solely with those who share your values.” That’s it.

Our core values here at Uno Alla Volta begin with honoring the uniqueness of the individual and the connections among us all.

Each and every day, my team and I strive to live true to our vision – to bring the human connection into every interaction!

Many an entrepreneur can build a business that brings products to market, but how many can be as proud as I am to have shaped a company around a common set of values and a unified vision?

It brings me such joy to hear of the various ways we have made a difference in your lives and those of our artisans.

Let this holiday season – and always – be a celebration of the individuality of each of us, and the infinite connections amongst us all.

riouxartisanSue began her art career at the age of 12, selling watercolor paintings at art shows in Maine. After moving to Southern California, she began working in stained glass, and since moving back to Maine has focused solely on crafting kaleidoscopes. Today, in her home studio overlooking the scenic Kennebunk River, Sue designs and creates breathtaking kaleidoscopes, many of which can be found in private collections and museums worldwide.

From her home studio, Sue designs and creates collectible kaleidoscopes. She begins with pieces of hand-cut glass framed in hand-soldered copper and brass rods. Inside, a three-mirror magnification system displays an endless array of colors.

Meet The Artisan: Donna

healtpartisanWhen Donna, our New Hampshire artisan, first took up pottery, she dreamed of ways to put the healing energy of crystals into people’s hands – literally! Today, she handcrafts gracefully shaped and artfully glazed pieces from clay infused with quartz crystals, believed to promote healing.

Donna handcrafts each crystal-infused ceramic piece on her potter’s wheel in her New Hampshire workshop. She paints each piece with layered glazes in soothing natural tones. To finish, each mug is topped off with natural gemstones, each thought to convey metaphysical properties.

When The Planets Align

22 Saturday Nov 2014

Posted by unoallavolta in Our Favorites, Uno Alla Volta

≈ Comments Off on When The Planets Align

glaseyartisan2Astrology holds that each sign of the zodiac is aligned with a planet or star that influences the personality of each person born under that sign. Our Washington State glass artisans masterfully handcraft these paperweights representing the astrological
signs’ ruling counterpart.

In their Seattle studio, master glass blowers craft our celestial paperweights from molten glass heated to over 2000* F inside a fiery furnace. Ash from the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens serves as the secret ingredient. Unique details, representative of each planet, are formed by rolling the heated glass in colored glass powders, shaping with hand tools and adding gold leaf and dichroic glass pieces to the surface for an iridescent effect. After the features are formed, they are then surrounded by clear molten glass, shaped into its rounded form and polished to a smooth finish.

Christina’s love of nature is a life-long passion, sparked by happy memories of tending her parents’ flower gardens. Today, she paints luminous flowers “as if they are growing out of the ground and onto the glass,” to be enjoyed all year round.

CTHPSTORY

Inspired by the beauty surrounding her home in Northern California, Christina creates her exquisite, limited edition hand-painted vases to bring the beauty of nature indoors. Each stunning glass piece is hand-painted in a dual technique with white Christmas roses and holly painted on the exterior and the gold background reverse-painted onto the inside of the glass.

Artisans from the local communities of Jalapao, Brazil use techniques handed down from the indigenous people of the Amazon to create our shimmering woven jewelry. Master weavers intricately craft this unique collection from naturally golden-colored grass found in the remote desert-like lands of Brazil’s Jalapao region. Each piece of grass is dried, then wrapped with gold-colored thread and finished with amethyst stones and crystal accents.
