Each and every day, my team and I strive to live true to our vision – to bring the human connection into every interaction!

Many an entrepreneur can build a business that brings products to market, but how many can be as proud as I am to have shaped a company around a common set of values and a unified vision?

It brings me such joy to hear of the various ways we have made a difference in your lives and those of our artisans.

Let this holiday season – and always – be a celebration of the individuality of each of us, and the infinite connections amongst us all.

riouxartisanSue began her art career at the age of 12, selling watercolor paintings at art shows in Maine. After moving to Southern California, she began working in stained glass, and since moving back to Maine has focused solely on crafting kaleidoscopes. Today, in her home studio overlooking the scenic Kennebunk River, Sue designs and creates breathtaking kaleidoscopes, many of which can be found in private collections and museums worldwide.

From her home studio, Sue designs and creates collectible kaleidoscopes. She begins with pieces of hand-cut glass framed in hand-soldered copper and brass rods. Inside, a three-mirror magnification system displays an endless array of colors.

Meet The Artisan: Donna

healtpartisanWhen Donna, our New Hampshire artisan, first took up pottery, she dreamed of ways to put the healing energy of crystals into people’s hands – literally! Today, she handcrafts gracefully shaped and artfully glazed pieces from clay infused with quartz crystals, believed to promote healing.

Donna handcrafts each crystal-infused ceramic piece on her potter’s wheel in her New Hampshire workshop. She paints each piece with layered glazes in soothing natural tones. To finish, each mug is topped off with natural gemstones, each thought to convey metaphysical properties.

A gift from Uno Alla Volta is a gift from the heart, shaped by the human imagination, and crafted by human hands. I like to believe each handcrafted gift contains a bit of the spirit of the artisan. From what you tell me, you do too. To all of you who write to me and share your stories of the ways in which we and our artisans touch your life and the lives of those whom you love – THANK YOU!AVPageView 11122014 34253 PM.bmp

JOTZDOLLSFor all of you who love the whimsical lady ornaments created by sisters Judy and Lynn in Pennsylvania, we have a new treat for you. These talented, hilarious sisters have taken their designs one step further to create these figurines, Anastasia and Natasha, loaded with personality. Each has a hand-painted face on Polish blown glass, a faux fur astrakhan hat and a fabulous hand-stitched cloak bejeweled with faux gems.

JUDYLYNNDOLLS

Sisters, Judy and Lynn, of Philadelphia grew up in a creative household where they were inspired by a mother whose creativity and sense of fun left an indelible mark. As children, they delighted in “re-purposing” household discards long before the trend became popular. And, now in “post-retirement,” they have formed a venture to bring fun and whimsy to others.

This week we are celebrating our feline companions in honor of National Cat Day, which is held on October 29th. To our many customers who have requested more cat-themed collectibles, keep a look out this week for more posts featuring our favorites!

VENACATSIn the small village of Boleslawiec, Poland, skilled artisans continue the tradition of Polish folk art with our hand-painted Polish Pottery cat sculptures that we couldn’t help but name. Each piece is handcrafted of stoneware, meticulously hand-painted using hand-carved sponges and fine brushwork, then glazed and fired at high temperatures for everlasting beauty.

savaSince 1966, Ermengildo and his wife Renata have been crafting and decorating exquisite blown-glass ornaments in the picturesque village of Bellagio, overlooking Italy’s Lake Como. Together with their daughter Annalisa, they create highly collectible glass ornaments. With remarkable craftsmanship, each ornament is carefully hand-blown using traditional techniques as they gather a dab of molten glass at the end of a tube, and then heat it over a flame as they gently blow to inflate the shape. To finish, the ornaments are then hand-painted with charming motifs honoring our animal friends.

Artisans in one of India’s largest port cities continue their centuries-old tradition of metal craft, hand-cutting and forging iron into this decorative iron Christmas tree chime. Our dimensional chime is accented with a garland of glass beads, iron ornaments and a “nana” bell, a sweetly soothing bell made of their own metal alloys from closely guarded family formulas.
